BYRNE VINEYARDS: SCOTTS CREEK RIVERLAND SA
Scotts Creek, on the River Murray, is one of Australia’s largest and most significant natural wetland environments and home to Scotts Creek Wines, and the Byrne family. This area is a valuable part of the Australian wildlife system providing habitats and breeding sites for a diverse range of native animals, birds, fish and plants including many rare and endangered species.
The Scotts Creek Vineyards, which overlook the Scotts Creek wetlands, are located at Morgan, South Australia. Established in 1974, under the direction of noted Australian wine great, Max Schubert, the site was selected for its ideal grape growing conditions and rocky limestone soils to produce rich and pure wines.
Scotts Creek, incorporating the wetlands, vineyards and wines is owned and managed by the Byrne family, who are celebrating 50 years in the wine business. The Byrne family also has vineyards at Clare Valley and Glen Devlin in South Australia with the Scotts Creek wetlands being the blueprint for the family’s sustainable approach to our environment.
