Mannum Dock Discovery Centre

Come in and step back in time, see Randell Dry Dock, Keys Beam Engine and much more

Mannum is the birthplace of the Australian Paddlesteamer (1853). It is the home port of the PS Marion - one of the oldest woodburning passenger paddle steamers still operating.  The PS Marion was built in 1897 and when you go through the museum you can go on the PS Marion and have a look around (subject to PS Marion being in dock).

The Dock Discovery Centre has interactive displays that young and old will enjoy.  Try your hand at steering a paddle steamer up the river or see how a boiler works. Check out the Shearer Display of farming implements and the first Electric car. Outside there is the heritage listed Dry-Dock (1876) and its fully restored Keys Beam Engine which was used to pump water from the dock.

There is also a display and DVD on the 1956 Flood, magnificent historicl photo collections, Geological displays, Indigenous display and a large collection of model paddle steamers
