SA Square Dancing Convention comes to Mannum

Square and Round Dancing will be on show this weekend at theSouth Australian State Square Dancing Convention to be held at the LutheranHall in Mannum.

 

Modern square dancing in Australia has been enjoyed for the past 60 years and is filled with fun and friendship set to music.

 

Danced in groups of four couples following instructions by acaller who choreographs a song with a different mix of moves depending on his and the dancer’s capabilities, creating an amazing spectacle and a vibrant ‘hoedown’ to challenge participants and have fun at the same time.   The convention is attracting 170 dancers from across SA, Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia.

 

The SA State Square Dancing Convention will be held at the Lutheran Hall on Cliff Street Mannum.  The public are welcome to come and watch at no charge between the hours of 7.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th August. Mid Murray Councillor Jeff Hall will officially open the convention at 8.00p.m. on Friday night.
