The Mannum Fun Run & Walk will be held on Sunday 4th November 2018
This free community event will start from the Mannum Rowing Club at Mary Ann Reserve from 8.30am
THUNDERBIRD AND PRO RIDER
SECURED FOR MANNUM FUN RUN
Adelaide Thunderbird Charlee Hodges and Mannum’s own professional motocross rider Brett Metcalfe will join the hundreds of participants at the 2018 Mannum Fun Run and Walk on Sunday, 4 November.
In an incredible coup for the community event, the two high profile sportspeople have been secured as the ambassadors – and will be available for signings, photos and to participate themselves!
Mannum’s picturesque Mary Ann Reserve will become a hive of all kinds of activities for the annual wellbeing event, which is set to attract hundreds of participants and spectators for its 10, five and three-kilometre categories.
Mid Murray Council Community Services Director Amy Loechel says the free event has something to suit every fitness level, from children and walkers to distance runners looking for a challenge. It even includes a short riverfront run for children under 10.
“It’s about getting the whole family out and enjoying a fun and active morning together,” Ms Loechel says.
“We wanted to create an event which had a category for everyone. This includes people who choose to walk, run, or even ride their gophers!”
“The popular Under 10 Kids’ Dash will also make a return this year for our youngest competitors to join in the fun. The dash is run along Mary Ann Reserve after the major event – ensuring that the whole family can get their fitness fix for the day.”
Once runners and walkers have crossed the finish line, they can reward themselves with a free healthy breakfast. Non-participants can also join in for breakfast for just $4 per person, with freshly brewed coffee available to purchase on the morning as well.
Registrations can be made before the day via the Mid Murray Council website, but entrants can
also sign up on the morning before the event begins.
Ms Loechel invited the whole community to turn out and cheer on participants.
“This is always such a fantastic community event, so come along and meet up with friends and family and make a day of it,” she says.
“What better way to get out and celebrate being active in our region.”
Ambassadors Charlee Hodges and Brett Metcalfe will be on hand at the event to meet fans.
The event is made possible by local community groups including the Mannum Community College, Mannum Football Club, Scouts, Mannum Tennis Club, Mannum Little Athletics, Mannum Leisure Centre and the Mid Murray Council.
